My Story

At the age of six, I wanted to know what it meant to be saved. I was born into a Christian family and had heard the word many times, but I hadn't fully grasped what it meant. One day, my dad explained to me how every person has sinned and that the only payment for sin is death. In Romans 3:23 it says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord". This death isn't just earthly death, where your body dies, but it is eternal death in hell. He explained how God didn't want everyone to die, so He sent his only son, Jesus, to the earth. While on the earth, Jesus died on the cross for every person so that they wouldn't have to. He was the only person that was perfect and therefore the only eligible one to do this. Because of the price that he paid on the cross, I had full ability to be free from my sin. This is the definition of the word saved. It is being redeemed from sin. As my preschool mind tried to grasp these concepts, my dad went further. He said that each person has the opportunity to ask Jesus to come into their lives and take the sin. He died for everyone, but each person has a choice of whether or not they want to receive the gift that Jesus gave, which was his life. I decided, that day, I wanted to receive this free gift. So, I prayed to ask Jesus to take my sin and make me new. I comprehended as much as I could about God as a preschooler, but it was day by day and year by year that I learned more and more about God. A couple of years ago, I want through some struggles that caused me much pain and sorrow. I began to sink into a pit of depression and wasn't very excited about everyday life. I cried out to Jesus to take the pain away and each day I began to feel His arms around me, holding me. I would cry myself to sleep knowing that my Jesus would take care of me. He truly did! Today, I am free from that pain and continue to run to Jesus when I have struggles. I know He alone will rescue me and heal my life from the sorrows that this world brings. More than anything else, I know I am on my way to heaven because I have surrendered every part of my life to Jesus. I hope and pray that you too would come to a place where you know you are nothing without Christ. It is at that point of humility when you truly find God! Contact me by posting comments on this page if you have any questions about knowing Jesus Christ more.
